February Talk
- Liphook Horticultural Society (15th Feb 2025 - 09:45:09)
Founder member and permaculture designer of Petworth Community Garden, Kate Green will be joining us on Thursday 20 February, 7.30pm at the Church Centre, to share the journey of how the garden has grown over the last 20 years.
Petworth Community Garden was started in 2005 as a small volunteer-led permaculture garden project, with the mission to enable local people with limited means to grow and access healthy organic fruit and vegetables.
Over the years it has grown according to community need into a thriving wheelchair-accessible therapeutic gardening charity, with 7 projects including:
'Learn and Grow Tuesdays': accessible gardening for all.
'Plot to Plate': cooking from the harvest.
'Men's Shed Wednesdays:' accessible rural craft making for local men.
'Thriving Thursdays': horticulture therapy for people with mental health support needs.
'Jammy Dodgers': making preserves from the harvest
'Stepping Stones to Work': volunteering and training to gain transferable work skills
Community Outreach harvest bags: fresh veg and bread to people signposted from the Foodbank.
We look forward to welcoming Kate on Thursday.
There will be tea and biscuits served after the talk and a raffle. If you have any raffle prizes, they are always very welcome.
Members admission is Free, Guests £5.
