White House Exchanges
- Paul Robinson (28th Feb 2025 - 22:47:45)
Witnessing the exchanges today between Trump, Vance and, lets not forget Putin, I am put in mind of playground bullies after Zerelsky's dinner money ?

Wars are a costly business and Zelensky has been on the take for far too long. The USA has been the biggest funder while Ukraine has the raw earth minerals which could have paid for it.
Time to pay back the USA. Time to stop the killing.

Agree. Absolutely appalling treatment of someone who flew a very long way in good faith. Trump and Vance were grandstanding for the benefit of US TV and Putin will be rubbing his hands in glee.
Time for Europe to step up to protect Ukraine as the USA clearly won’t.

Alison is forgetting that Putin has invaded an independent country in Europe. If he is not stopped, his ambitions will take him further into Western Europe. It could be a world wide war.

Yes how would Trump feel if Putin invaded America and stole land . We need to stop Putin from invading countries.

Yes, of course, we must remember that the United States were our allies during the last two World Wars, albeit they arrived late on both occasions.
Britain finally repaid the multi million dollar post World War Two loan from the United States, known as the Marshall Plan, in 2006

- John Jonson (1st Mar 2025 - 14:02:17)
The USA is no longer a milking cow to be walked all over by foreign countries etc. Trump and Vance were assertive, not the same as bullyish. Zelensky was ungrateful and disrespectful.
When our female diplomates go to Muslim countries they all too happily dress accordingly.
When Zelensky go into the White House he doesn't give a dam. His casual pretence of attire is mostly seen on red carpets in his palaces and other palaces. Ironic, hypocrite. He is no longer a common man.
He demanded NATO countries pay him hundreds of billions of taxpayers money. Money that is essentially needed elsewhere and without specific consent. And he still does demand much more. Ukraine (a verified high-corruption country) can't show where all the money had gone. No gratitude.
Ukraine, supposedly fighting for its survival, will not entertain paying back which any possible way. They have unimaginable wealth stashed away from us, their supporters.
Going back to feminism vs chauvinism: Ukrainian men pay way over the odds in war recruitment and causalities. Where are all the pro-equality women?
We know Ukraine is somewhat conservative, chauvinistic military? Its known for it's past Nazi collaboration and current neo-Nazis.
There is a great deal of hypocrisy on the British and European part on all this. We like to promote ourselves as peaceful people. But we make any excuse to PROLONG this war so long as Russia is seen as the losers. We should instead take any chance, any opportunity to stop the war no matter what Russian media might make of it. Not the stance Zelensky & followers are taking.
- Joe (1st Mar 2025 - 09:26:59) Joe is forgetting that Ukraine was supposed to remain neutral and never side with NATO. Ukraine's breech of neutrality was the trigger for Russia to respond, following decades of Ukrainian mistreatment of it's large Russian minority.
Us in Britain better find another distraction from our dire domestic affairs and stop the constant Russia-phobia, Russo-Blaming and general anti-Russian propaganda.
Russia has never invaded a NATO country. Not invaded any country for many decades; on the contrary, about 3 decades ago Russia has retreated from many regions. So - Local (1st Mar 2025 - 10:06:16) can sleep safe at night: Unprovoked Russia is not about to invade nowhere.

Well John Johnson hope you’re right but I won’t sleep safe until he retreats from Ukrainian territory and stops warmongering even around our little island. Would not trust him as far as I could throw him .

John Johnson - Putin invaded the Crimea. When you say “he was supposed to remain neutral on NATO- on whose orders?

Let’s not forget that it was not that many years ago that Ukrainians were some of the biggest supporters of Nazi Germany and many thousands actively assisted the holocaust. In realpolitik, Ukraine is in Russias sphere of influence and Russia has not behaved any differently to how America has in the past ( Grenada, Panama, Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq)

Hidden, due to both Ukraine and Russia hiding true figures, but by independent estimates around 100,000 mainly young Ukrainian men dead and twice that many Russian men, 300,000 dead in total and possibly ten times that many wounded, shell shocked, broken etc
Women, where's your outrage at the lack of equal opportunities? Yet many women are staunchly and vocally supporting the continuation of war until 'total victory', so you can be sure if this spreads to WWIII it will be the young blokes of western Europe dying on the battlefields of some eastern European Balkan state, yet again
Europe last saw this level of men slaughtered in the two World Wars which saw Europe changedand diminished forever. We are too stupid to learn, or most of us anyway, or else we just forget.
As Trump said, it's a disgraceful waste of lives and Ukraine simply cannot replace the lost men, corruption is still rife with families bribing officials to avoid the increasingly Draconian draft and young men fleeing the borders, while others chase them down at the rivers with guns to bring them back
Yes the Ukrainians are brave, but Trump is correct it is a disaster that should never have happened and would never have happened had he been in charge at the time.
Trump for all the hatred against him peddled by naive as well as the war mongers of Europe, is actually a peacemaker and deal maker.
Before he oin reflection Israel and the Palestinians were doing their utmost to wipe each other out, Trump is a huge fan of Israel but he is a peacemaker first and told both sides outright, you'd better make peace before I get into the White House. They agreed a peace that only weeks before when it seemed Harris would win was deemed unthinkable
I also believe that as long as Trump is in power China won't dare attack Taiwan, Iran won't dare breakout a nuclear bomb, because no leader will dare start a war once Trump has told them to make peace.
Let's tell the war mongers to get stuffed, Ukraine no more needs to be in NATO than does any other country, it is right on Russia's border and we must accept Russia for all that we are taught to hate it, could never allow NATO weapons right on its border and Trump understands that, so he'll be able to make a deal that will save hundreds of thousands of not millions of more lives.
Why do hawks hate that there might be peace, the clue is in the name.

Another Resident:
Well said on all points.
Without a war who would Zelensky be? He is just the face to be sent around to gullible leaders for money. He is no politician and knows it and could never govern in peace time.
The closest he gets to it is the role of President in the comedy {Servant of the People.} The man is no more than an actor.
The USA ( Democrats ) have been the biggest funders of this war and the EU has allowed it. If Trump cuts the money and Europe still wants this war this country will have to conscript people like they are doing in Ukraine. They aren't polite in asking you to join either. You refuse, you are bundled into a vehicle by the military. I do not want this to happen, do you ?
Ukraine was part of the USSR Until the stranglehold over the East was loosened. The Donbas region are mostly a Russian speaking populace and deserve to live in peace.
Neither side is right or wrong but this will be a never ending war with the likes of Zelenski becoming more richer than his wildest dreams.
Those that want this to carry on really need to ask themselves why ?

"Let’s not forget that it was not that many years ago that Ukrainians were some of the biggest supporters of Nazi Germany and many thousands actively assisted the holocaust."
Yes it was eighty five years ago when Hitler's Nazi troops invaded and occupied Ukraine, as they did in France. But in both countries, whilst some accepted occupation a substantial number fought against this.
