Jubilee
- vicky (5th Mar 2012 - 22:42:56)

Is Liphook partaking in the Jubilee celebrations in anyway?

Re: Jubilee
- jacqui (8th Mar 2012 - 22:07:48)

The infant and junior school are holding a fantastic day for all the pupils, with siblings and family welcome later in the afternoon.

Liphook Day Centre are also having `a bit of a do` in Jubilee Week !

Re: Jubilee
- Ben Lawrance (9th Mar 2012 - 20:24:53)

How would a music concert go down?

Obviously I can't organise it, as it will cause upset within the community, but if someone wanted to do it I would certainly go to it.

Thoughts?

A music concert would be great. My family and I would attend and I'm sure alot of the community would to.
Ben why can't you organise it? If your able to I don't see why it would upset the community.

Re: Jubilee
- vicky (9th Mar 2012 - 22:39:56)

I was thinking along the lines of the family fun day thing that was held on the millenium center green last summer....not sure what that was in aid of......

It was organised by the carnival committee

Re: Jubilee

I would love to see a music concert or similar to celebrate the jubilee.. something seperate from the fete on the green maybe - as that was good but maybe a bit geared towards kids and finished really very early..

I would love to see something that was afternoon and right into the evening - a proper party.. with plenty of pimms, scones and jam, flags and merryment :-) - so I think a music concert would fit the bill better! But it would have to end with the national anthem and incorporate some good singalongs for families of all ages ...Could get one of the organs from Hollycombe down to add a bit of history and atmosphere to the event! Oh i would love to volunteer to help organise something, but being out of the country for the preceding few months that would be tricky!!!

So..........

Monday 4th? Music concert on the village green? I'll do it, I just need people to buy tickets and drink beer.

Thoughts?

Ben,

sounds like its becoming a beer fest ?- which would be great !!

what do you have in mind ?- are you able to clarify ?

Re: Jubilee
- h (16th Mar 2012 - 12:54:48)

sounds a good idea but I presume you will need to check with the PC re insurance and event licenses etc, also the hall will need to be staffed if it is going to be open for toilet use?

Age Concern Liphook are sponsoring a Jubilee Celebration Tea Party with musical entertainment. It will take place in a marquee in the grounds of Hanover Court, Tower Road on Tuesday 5th June from 3pm - 7pm. We welcome anyone over 60 who would like to come along to this free event, and transport can be provided. For more information or if you would like to attend, please obtain telephone number or email address from the Editor.

Re: Jubilee

I'll do both, multiple times.

Re: Jubilee
- Ben Lawrance (16th Mar 2012 - 18:36:13)

Well, i figured the only way to get something to happen, was to do it myself.

I'm thinking something along the lines of an afternoon of Jazzy Pimms drinking, scone eating type affair which turns into a more rock n roll type event a little later on. All finishing before the complaint committee kick it.

I can do the staging / lighting / sound side of it, and event manage the whole production. What i will need others to volunteer for is selling tickets, marketing, finding suitable musical acts etc.

It wouldn't need the Millennium Hall to be open and staffed, as i can arrange for portable toilet facilities to be brought it.

I'm thinking multiple bar / food outlets serving a whole mixture of things.

Is this something people want me to pursue?

If anyone would like to talk to me directly about this potential Jubilee idea, please call me on 07790 264316.

Cheers

Re: Jubilee

sounds good are you thinking evening event or daytime into evening.....
would be nice to have something for all ages.......

Re: Jubilee
- Sar (16th Mar 2012 - 21:02:07)

Ben,

I think this sounds like a brilliant idea - i feel sure there would be a great turn-out for it. Wouldn't it be nice if the complainers could take a day off as gather you've been given a pretty rough time with gig in the garden which is a shame.

I'd love to volunteer to help out but i'm not actually in the country until 5 days before which isn't much use - but when the time comes around if any help is needed on the day then i'm keen :)

Any chance some of the profits (positive thinking) can go back to the community? Think this might help the marketing side too.

Re: Jubilee

could be a good day- please ask ed for my email if you want a hand with anything

Bordon is having a Soap Box Derby on June 4th - people can make "soap box" vehicles, they close all the streets in Bordon. They did one previously and it was attended by over 1,000 people. There are charity stalls and allsorts. Just thought I would mention it, in case it was "competition" for punters.

Re: Jubilee

Does anyone know is Ben Lawrance is still thinking of doing this?
