High drama for walking group
Ann Smith of the Liphook U3A Walking Group was not expecting anything unusual when they assembled for their walk around Frensham Little and Great ponds on Thursday, 2nd August, but there was a surprise in store!
Everything appeared to be normal as the group got under way, with the usual pep talk about the route, together with reminders of safety. The walk itself was very easy under foot with recent rains making walking through sand more comfortable and the views over the water were very attractive even with the occasional drizzle. At one stage bracken had to be fought through which was probably the most testing part of the walk.
However, high drama struck when speeding emergency service vehicles were encountered on the return to the starting point. A serial killer had struck with the intention of disposing of the bodies in Frensham Little Pond. So, Ann reports, “I am not exaggerating when I say high drama. Well, that was the tag line when I interviewed the director of the film being shot there. Maybe I should add that the emergency services were mistakenly called out by somebody thinking everything was for real. This of course all added to the scene.”
Chris Leadbeater, the walk leader, should be congratulated on laying on such entertainment.
