Taxi? No Thanks!
A Liphook man could be forced to close down the taxi service he has run from his Maltings home for seven years after being refused planning permission to run a business from the premises.
East Hampshire District Council's South Planning Committee, meeting on Thursday, turned down a retrospective application for a change of the use from dwelling to mixed use dwelling/taxi business.
Owner Peter Bedford employs three full-time drivers and one part time driver.
"Also I don't operate a 24 hour business and my drivers do not come back to the house between runs," he said.
Mr Bedford said he has no intention of closing down, and hoped that his customers would write to the planning department at Penn's Place, to back his appeal.
