Help Prevent Burglary

Over the next month the Neighbourhood Policing Teams across East Hampshire will be promoting crime prevention advice about burglary.

Uniformed officers will speak to burglary victims and members of the public to address any concerns they may have, while also distributing crime prevention literature. The activity is part of an ongoing effort to address non-dwelling burglaries in rural areas of East Hampshire as this has been identified previously as one of the district priorities.

On Wednesday, May 18, the team will be in Petersfield Square between 10am and 2pm to answer questions and will also be visiting Horndean and Rowlands Castle during the day.

The following day on Thursday, May 19, the team will be at the Forest Centre in Bordon between 10am and 2pm. Officers will also be speaking to residents on Headley Road in Grayshott, at Sainsbury's in Liphook, and at the Village Hall in Liss.

On Tuesday, June 7, the team will be in Alton town centre between 10am and 2pm. Officers will also speak to residents on Winchester Road in Four Marks, Selborne, and Kingsley.

Advice and live updates on the campaign, called #OpCloak, will be posted on the @EastHantsCops Twitter account.

Chief Inspector Beth Pirie said: "This will be an invaluable opportunity for our local communities to raise concerns they may have about burglary, especially in rural areas.

"While burglary levels have remained low in East Hampshire over the last year, we recognise that it is an ongoing area of concern for local residents, especially when the theft of specialised items like machinery in rural locations can have a significant impact for victims".
