Conman Warning
Police are advising residents, especially the elderly, to be on their guard against conmen after a pensioner in Longmoor Road, Liphook, had antiques stolen. Two men, posing as Water Board officials called at the house.
The incident happened at 2.30 on Saturday afternoon. The men told the women pensioner that while working on a building site nearby they had burst a water main, and were therefore asking residents to turn off their water.
While in the house one of the men kept the woman talking while the other searched through rooms, rifling drawers and wardrobes before stealing small antique items, some of which were of sentimental value.
The men were described as between 25 and 30 years old, the younger 5ft 8 and the older around 6ft tall.
Anyone with information should call PC Richard Pembridge at Whitehill Police Station on 0845 045 4545.
